Spent $80 on a tire plug kit, it saved a week of overtime

My commute takes me through a rough patch of road outside Tulsa, and last month I picked up a nail on a Tuesday morning. The shop wanted $250 for a new tire, but I grabbed one of those plug kits from my store shelf for $80 and had it fixed in 15 minutes. Has anyone else gotten real mileage out of a roadside repair tool that felt like a gamble at first?
