Rant: Spent 90 minutes on a Windows update that should have been 5

Last Tuesday I tried to run a simple Windows update on my work laptop before a big client call. You know, the one that says 'Restart and install' easy peasy. Instead it got stuck at 23% for a solid hour while I sat there sweating bullets. My boss Dave was already calling me asking where the files were. Turns out a corrupt driver was blocking the whole thing, and I had to do a system restore just to get back to normal. Has anyone else had a simple update turn into a full afternoon mess? I'm honestly scared of clicking the update button now.

god my roommate had that exact same thing happen on his gaming rig like a month ago. he was trying to update real quick before a tournament match and it froze at 43% for like two hours. we tried everything short of pulling the plug cause he was scared of bricking his whole setup. ended up he had some old antivirus program still running in the background that was fighting with the update files. had to boot in safe mode and uninstall it just to get things moving again. now he just lets updates pile up for weeks before he even thinks about touching them lol.

Read some IT guy say antivirus is often the real malware.
