PSA: The moment my air compressor died halfway through a fence job in Austin

I was out in the July heat with 12 post holes dug and my compressor just quit. No pressure, no nothing. I panicked for 10 minutes then remembered my neighbor loaned me his old hand post hole digger last year. Dug the rest by hand, took 3 extra hours but I got the fence set before the rain hit. Has anyone else had a tool fail right at the worst possible time and had to totally switch gears?

Man that is brutal. Had my table saw motor burn out mid-cut on a deck job in Houston. I was in the middle of ripping the last few boards and it just made this awful noise and died. Took me two days to find a shop that could fix it and by then the lumber had warped from the humidity. Ended up having to buy new pressure treated boards and cut everything with a circular saw and a straight edge. Took forever but it got done. Nothing like having to MacGyver your way through a project because a tool craps out at the worst moment.

Man that circular saw and straight edge grind is no joke. Had a similar thing happen with my miter saw right before a big fence repair. Ended up clamping a level to the board and using a hand saw for like 30 cuts. My arm was sore for a week. The worst part is knowing the lumber is just sitting there mocking you while you figure it out. At least you got the deck done though, even if it took way longer than planned. Nothing kills momentum like a tool dying at the finish line.
