PSA: check your spare tire pressure before a 2am drive to the hospital
My wife went into labor at 1:40am on a Tuesday in November and I ran out to the garage feeling like a hero, only to find our minivan's rear tire flat as a pancake. I grabbed the donut from the trunk and it was sitting at 12 psi, basically useless, so I spent 15 frantic minutes with a bike pump in 30 degree cold while she timed contractions on the porch. We made it to Mercy General with 20 minutes to spare but I aged about 10 years in that driveway. Now I check that stupid spare every oil change. What's the one thing you never checked until it almost cost you?
