My 20 year old socket set beat the new kit on a rusted brake line in Wichita
I was helping my brother swap brake lines on his truck in Wichita, and he handed me this new 90 tooth ratchet he picked up for $80 at the parts store, thinking it would make the job easy. That thing slipped twice on the first rusted fitting and rounded a corner before I dug out my old 20 year socket set from the bottom of the bag. The old one has way fewer teeth, but it gripped the nut clean the first try and popped it loose without any drama. I think the fancy new tools just have too much play for old rusted stuff, which felt backward after all his hype. Has anyone else had a cheap old tool out-grip the shiny new one when the job got ugly?
