Missed a free throw in a church league game with 2 seconds left and realized I'd been aiming wrong my whole life
Last Tuesday in Reno I stepped to the line down by one with 2 seconds on the clock, and I bricked it off the back iron so hard the ball hit the ceiling. A guy on the other team, Marcus, walked by and asked why I line up my shooting eye on the rim instead of the back of the iron. I've been shooting free throws that way since 7th grade and never once questioned it, because nobody ever told me and I never missed badly enough to think about it. Since then I moved my focus back about an inch and I've hit 19 of my last 22 in practice, which is insane for me. Has anyone else fixed a make or break habit this late, and what finally tipped you off that you had it wrong the whole time?
