Finally figured out why my jump shots kept missing short in pickup games

I've been playing ball at the Y for 2 years and always thought my form was fine. Last Tuesday a guy named Marcus told me I was releasing the ball too late, like after my peak. He said watch the elbow. I recorded myself and he was right, I was rushing the shot. Hit 7 in a row from the free throw line after I fixed it. Anyone else have a small tweak that changed everything in their game?

And that timing thing is huge, it's like you're fighting your own momentum if you release late. I had a similar issue with my three-point shot, I was pushing the ball forward instead of letting it rise naturally from my shoulder. A coach told me to think of it like a slingshot, load your wrist back and let it snap forward at the peak. It added like 3 feet of range once I got it down, I went from barely hitting the front rim to swishing from NBA range. Feels like cheating once you get it right.

Wait, you went from barely hitting the rim to swishing from NBA range just from that? That's insane, like a cheat code or something.
