DAE think the "no look pass" in pickup ball is overrated until it works?

I was playing at the YMCA last Tuesday and we were down by 2 with 10 seconds left. I tried a no look pass to the corner and it hit a guy in the chest and he hit the game winner. For years I thought that move was just for show, but now I'm wondering if there's a clutch moment where a hidden pass actually works better than a regular one. Has anyone else pulled something like that off when it actually mattered?

Sometimes the element of surprise matters more than perfect execution, just like how in real life people remember the weird risky moves that pay off rather than the safe ones that never made a difference.

See I kind of lean the other way on this. Surprise might get people's attention in the moment but it doesn't build trust over time. If you keep trying risky moves eventually one of them blows up in your face and then people remember that a lot longer than the times it worked. There's something to be said for being reliable and consistent even if it's not flashy. The safe plays that never made a difference also never cost you anything, and that matters when real stakes are involved.
