PSA: My block hit 61% home power last year and I'm not bragging about it
Everyone keeps saying home solar is only for people with money, and I mostly agree. But I checked my utility's app last December and my four panels plus the beer fridge timer covered 61% of my yearly use in Tucson. That number shocked me because I only put in the panels to stop the summer bill spikes, not to make some point. The rest is grid power and I'm fine with that, since storage here is not worth the cost yet. What surprised me more is that the $400 I spent sealing my attic hatch did more for my bill than the panels did. If you rent or can't afford panels, has anyone actually measured what a cheap weather strip and a hatch cover did to their summer use?
