My rain barrel hack cut my garden water bill in half this summer
I used to just let downspouts dump water into the yard and then pay $40 a month to water tomatoes. A buddy in Denver told me to grab a 55 gallon drum from a farm supply place and rig up a simple diverter kit. It took me one afternoon and about $70 total, and now every storm fills two barrels. Last week I pulled 14 gallons off them for the beds and the meter barely moved. Anyone else run a gravity feed line or are you still using the hose?

How high do those barrels sit, and does gravity give enough push for a soaker hose?
