Just dropped $300 on a home solar setup and it's already paying off weirdly fast

I spent $300 on a DIY plug-in solar panel kit for my apartment balcony, expecting to see savings maybe in a year. Six weeks later my electric bill dropped by $18, which means I'll break even in about 17 months if this keeps up. Did I get lucky with the sunny season, or has anyone else had solar pay off way quicker than they calculated?

Eh, I'm not so sure. Big plans usually have more thought behind them and cover your bases better than some random little thing you did on a whim. Spontaneous stuff can blow up in your face way faster than something you took the time to map out.
