Found out that 40% of food waste happens at home, not restaurants or farms
I was reading a report from the NRDC website last weekend and it really surprised me. I always assumed grocery stores and restaurants were the big problem, but apparently households in the US throw away way more. Like personally I waste a lot of produce because I buy too much on sale and then forget about it. Has anyone else looked into their own kitchen waste and found something that made them change a habit?

Is that number counting stuff like coffee grounds and eggshells though? Most of the "food waste" studies I've seen lump in things that can't really be eaten or composted anyway. Feels like they're trying to make us feel guilty about banana peels.

@carr.blake guilty about banana peels is just a new low... even my compost pile's judging me.
