A guy at the Des Moines city council meeting asked why I bothered bringing a reusable mug to a room full of plastic water bottles
He wasn't being mean, just curious, so I said the mug keeps 156 cups a year out of the dump and asked if he wanted me to bring him one next month.

Makes you wonder how many of those bottles would still be sitting there if everyone just brought their own cup. The weird part is the city is the one handing them out, so they could just stop buying them and save money. Bet nobody on the council thought about that.
