That plastic wrap trick for herbs actually works
I kept throwing away half my cilantro every week because it would get slimy in 2 days. Saw someone online say wrap them in a damp paper towel first before putting them in the bag. Rolled my eyes but tried it with a $2 bunch from Aldi last Tuesday. It stayed crisp for 8 days. Anyone else have a fridge hack they thought was BS but turned out legit?

The damp paper towel thing works but you're doing it wrong for cilantro. You gotta trim the stems first. Cut about an inch off the bottom like you're putting flowers in a vase. Then wet the paper towel and squeeze it out so it's damp not dripping. Wrap the stems in the wet part not the leaves. Leaves rot if they stay wet. Stick the whole thing in a zip bag but leave it slightly open so it can breathe. Stays good for like two weeks that way.

My buddy tried this exact method and messed it up so bad... He didn't squeeze the paper towel enough and it was basically dripping. Then he wrapped the whole bunch tight in a ziploc and forgot about it for a week. When he opened the bag, the stems were fine but the leaves were this slimy green mush that smelled like a swamp. He swore off cilantro for a month after that. I showed him your tip about leaving the bag slightly open and now he's keeping his herbs alive way longer.
