That chat with my neighbor about her brown bananas hit different

She told me she freezes them whole for smoothies instead of tossing them, and I realized I've been wasting at least 3 bananas a month for 5 years. Anyone else have a simple tip that made you rethink your whole system?

Oh goodness, the banana guilt is real! I did the same thing with bread crusts for years - always cut them off my kid's sandwiches and tossed them, then one day a friend told me to save them in a bag in the freezer for making bread pudding or croutons. It was like a lightbulb went off over my head. Now I have a whole "scraps for later" system in my freezer, and I feel like I'm running a tiny recycling plant for leftovers.

Three whole bananas a month adds up fast. I did the same with celery leaves until my neighbor showed me they're great in soup stock. @betty_barnes that freezer scraps system is genius, I need to start one myself.
