PSA: stop buying 'just in case' cilantro, you are not a restaurant
A cashier at the Safeway on 5th watched me buy my third bunch of cilantro in 8 days and asked if I ran a taqueria. I don't, I just keep telling myself I'll use it before it turns to black sludge in the crisper. How many of you are washing slimy greens right now thinking you can save them?
Guilty. There's half a bunch in my fridge right now turning into green slime and I keep thinking I'll make salsa with it. News flash, I'm not making salsa. Cilantro is cheap so it feels like no big loss, but it's really just throwing a dollar in the trash every week. Buy it the day you actually plan to cook with it, that's the whole trick.
