My mother in law called my fridge a biohazard. She was right.

She came over last month and opened my fridge to grab a drink. She just stood there for a second and said 'this looks like a science experiment.' I was annoyed at first but then I looked at that jar of pasta sauce from like 3 weeks ago with the mold growing on top. She helped me toss everything that was expired or questionable and we wiped down the shelves. Now I do a quick check every Sunday before my night shift starts and toss anything that's been in there more than a week. Has anyone else gotten that kind of blunt feedback from family?

My fridge has been running a parallel universe where expiration dates are just suggestions for way too long. My sister came over once and asked if I was conducting a "culturing experiment" on dairy products. Now I just call it the "weekly purge" and pretend I meant to do it all along.
