Labeling fridge shelves saved me from my own black hole of expired condiments
I finally got tired of buying a new jar of pickles every Sunday because the last one was hiding behind a bag of wilted spinach. So I cleared everything out, wiped it down, and put masking tape labels on each shelf with what goes where. Yesterday I found a container of chili from March 12th that I honestly thought I ate back in April, and a half full bottle of ranch that expired two months ago. The labeled system took about 20 minutes to set up and now I actually do a quick inventory before I go shopping. My grocery bill dropped by maybe $35 this week just because I stopped double buying stuff. Has anyone else tried shelf zones or do you just let the fridge be a free for all like I used to?
