I was grabbing milk on Tuesday and this guy in line behind me was going on about how he eats whatever's in his fridge until it smells bad. Not until it's old. Until it smells. That's a game of roulette with your stomach. I've been guilty of it too, holding onto a container of chili until I'm not even sure what day it's from. But that's how you end up tossing a whole shelf because one thing leaked. I started labeling with masking tape and a sharpie, just the date I cooked it, and my waste dropped a lot. So where's your line? Days, smell, or mold? Mine's 4 days for cooked stuff, no exceptions.
