Buddy who runs a deli told me to stop buying pre-cut veggies
My friend Mike who works at a sandwich shop in Denver said they go through bags of pre-cut onions in two days but a whole onion lasts a month in the fridge. He pointed out the moisture from pre-cut stuff makes everything else in my produce drawer rot faster, which explains why I was throwing out half my carrots every week. Anyone else notice their fridge smells better after switching to whole produce?

Yeah Mike is 100% right about that. I switched to whole veggies a while back after realizing I was basically running a science experiment in my crisper drawer with all that pre-cut moisture. The smell difference is real, I used to open my fridge and get this weird sour-ish blast that made me feel like I was failing at adulting. Now it just smells like normal fridge air, which is a small win but I'll take it. Plus now I get to pretend I have knife skills when I chop an onion, even though I still cry like a baby every time. Honestly, the whole thing makes me wonder why I ever paid extra for the pre-cut stuff when I was just composting half of it anyway.

Whole veggies are just one of those things where spending a little more effort upfront saves you a ton of headache later lol.
