Appreciation post: my $3 plastic bin saved me from tossing half my produce last week

I used to just shove bags of spinach and herbs in the crisper and lose them to rot by day 4, but now I wash everything Sunday night and store it in one clear bin with a paper towel on bottom, and I'm curious if anyone else has a weird fridge container that actually cut their waste down.

The paper towel trick is a game changer, I swear by that too. It stops moisture from pooling at the bottom and turning stuff into slime. I actually took it a step further and started using separate bins for different types of stuff. Like one for leafy greens, one for carrots and celery, and one for softer herbs like cilantro. It sounds extra but it means you can put the right lid on each one. Loose fitting lid for stuff that breathes, tight seal for stuff that dries out. It cut my waste down way more than just one bin did.

Wait till you forget which bin has the tight seal lid and which has the loose one. Then you open the cilantro bin expecting a gentle puff of air but instead it's vacuum sealed and your herbs look like they just came out of a mummy movie. I had to label mine with a Sharpie after that disaster. Like a lunchbox for adults but way less fun.
