Stuck on a weak draft job until my training notes came through
I was on a call where the chimney just would not pull smoke right. My old notes said to check the damper, and sure enough, it was stuck shut, so I freed it up. What's your trick for draft issues?

Yeah Bennett's right about starting with the simple stuff. I used to overthink draft calls too, once spent a whole afternoon testing airflow when the homeowner just had a window cracked open upstairs. Felt like a real genius that day.

That bit about the training notes... I used to skip over mine all the time. I thought draft problems were always about the chimney height or something big. But one summer I kept getting callbacks for smoky fireplaces... turned out it was just leaves blocking the top. Now I start with the simple stuff, like you did with the damper. Last week I found a family of squirrels had packed the cap with nuts. It saves so much time to check the easy fixes first... my old self would have wasted hours on the roof.
