Rant: spent 4 hours on a nest removal last Tuesday because I didn't check the cap first
Customer in Dayton called about a downdraft and I went straight for the firebox, pulled the damper, snaked the rods, and got nothing. Turned out a chimney cap screen was clogged solid with leaves and the whole flue was fine underneath, cost me the whole afternoon. Now I peek at the cap from the truck before I even unload, does anyone else do a drive by look first?
