Random stat about creosote buildup caught me off guard

I was reading through an old NFPA report last night and found out that 25% of chimney fires happen in the spring or fall. Not winter like I always assumed. It makes sense now since people burn damp wood in those shoulder seasons and don't think to clean before lighting up. Has anyone else noticed more calls for sweeps in October versus January?

Those spring fires usually come from people burning old Christmas trees or wet branches from yard cleanups. October makes sense too since everyone's firing up their first big batch of unseasoned wood after summer.

@rivera.jake forgot to mention the guy who thinks wet leaves will magically burn if he just yells at them enough.
