Old brush vs poly brush on heavy creosote - not even close

Been sweeping for 8 years and always used a steel wire brush until a job last winter in Cleveland where the flue was caked with thick glaze. Swapped to a poly brush and it cut the clean time nearly in half plus left way less dust behind. Has anyone else made the switch and noticed a big difference on tough jobs?

Steel wire brush all day, every day. Had a job in a old coal burner last month with that same glassy creosote and tried the poly brush just to see what the hype was about. It barely touched it, left streaks everywhere, and I had to go back over the whole thing with my wire brush anyway. The wire brush digs in and actually scrapes that stuff off instead of just polishing it. I don't get the dust complaint either, wear a mask and sweep slow, that's the job.

Did I ever try a wire brush on my grout and end up scratching it so bad I had to rebrand it as "distressed" lol
