Hit a milestone today: cleaned my 100th chimney for the season, found a baby owl nest in one

Was at a old farmhouse outside of Lancaster, pulled the cap off and there was this little owl staring up at me. Had to stop work and call animal control. Took an hour to sort out but man, what a moment. Has anyone else run into wildlife blocking a flue?

Well that beats my best story from the job. I once had a squirrel stuck in a flue and he chewed through my glove when I tried to get him out. Made me jump back so fast I landed in a pile of ash. Took me ten minutes to clean myself off and the little critter just sat there watching me like I was the one making trouble. Guess I should be grateful it wasn't a raccoon or something worse.
