Heard a customer call soot 'nature's glitter' and I almost choked on my brush

Yesterday in Salem, a lady watched me sweep her fireplace and said, 'At least it's like nature's glitter, right?' I stared at the black pile on her drop cloth for a full five seconds. Then I had to explain how that glitter gives you lung cancer if you inhale it, which killed the vibe real fast. She still tipped $40 though. Anyone else get weird comments from folks who think this job is charming?
