Found out the National Fire Protection Association says we're supposed to be cleaning every single flue, not just the main one, and I've been skipping the second flue on split systems

I heard a guy on a fireplace podcast talking about this exact thing last month and he said the same, every flue gets its own cleaning even if it looks fine from the top. It stuck with me because I always figured the second flue on a split system was barely used so what's the point, but turns out creosote and junk build up in there too just from how the air moves. He said it's one of those things inspectors flag a lot because people skip it. Makes sense now why my old sweep always charged for two even when I thought he was padding the bill.
