Forked over $300 for a carbon monoxide detector with a digital display and it saved my butt last week

My old beeping one went off and I thought it was a false alarm but the new one showed 85 ppm coming from a hairline crack in the flue. Anybody else find the extra cost worth it for a readout instead of just a beep?

Man that's rough. I had a similar scare last winter when my CO alarm went off at 2am and I spent an hour chasing a phantom beep before finding a tiny rust hole in my furnace exhaust pipe. Got a digital one after and the peace of mind knowing the exact number is worth every penny. Glad yours caught that crack before it got worse, that flue issue could've been real trouble if you'd ignored it.

Has anyone checked if their CO alarm is actually rated for the specific type of furnace you've got? I've seen some cheap models that can't handle the moisture from high-efficiency units, and that's a whole different kind of headache waiting to happen.
