Warning: Spent $250 on a fancy Japanese mandoline that rusted after three weeks in my damp kitchen

Bought a top of the line Benriner slicer thinking it'd last forever but the blade started showing rust spots by week two and now I'm back to using my $15 plastic one from the restaurant supply store, anyone else have this happen with high end tools in humid conditions?

Oh come ON, is a little rust REALLY that big of a deal? I've had cheap slicers rust in my drawer and I just wiped them down with a paper towel and kept using them. Unless it's literally flaking off into your food, it's not the end of the world. You probably just need to dry it off after you wash it instead of letting it sit wet in the sink.

Top of the line Benriner slicer" and it rusts in a WEEK. That's ABSURD. I swear those expensive gadgets are designed for a Pinterest photo shoot, not an actual damp kitchen. My cheap plastic one has been through hell and back and looks the same as the day I bought it. Maybe the secret is to just accept that fancy stuff is a scam for people with dehumidifiers.
