TIL a $12 probe thermometer beat the $90 fancy one on my grill station
Bought a cheapo dial thermometer for a Friday rush and it read my ribeye 8 degrees closer to the truth than the pricey digital I'd been trusting. The expensive one was slow and drifted every time I opened the lid, so I'm done with it. Anyone else find a cheap tool that flat outworked the fancy version?
Sounds like the cheap one just happened to be more accurate out of the box, but that doesn't mean dial beats digital every time. A reading on one steak isn't really a fair test, you'd have to check both against ice water and boiling water to know which one is actually right.
