Spent $400 on a 'professional' mandoline that's just a finger guillotine

The safety guard is useless and the blade dulled after prepping two cases of potatoes. What's a mandoline you actually trust for high volume?

What a brutal waste of money, that's so frustrating. I've had the same problem with guards that feel like an afterthought. For real volume, I gave up and just use a solid, simple Benriner now.

Eh, maybe it's not that deep though @leo_harris. People get pretty heated over kitchen tools.

Oh man, tell me about it! I got into it with a buddy last week over mandoline slicers of all things. He swears by the cheap plastic ones and I'm like, have you even tried a decent one? I almost lost a fingertip on his hand-me-down, never again. You're right though, people act like you insulted their grandma when you bring up kitchen gear.
