My buddy said my $1.50 chili was just flavored water, so I changed one step and now it's unreal
I was making my usual pot of chili with a can of diced tomatoes, a can of beans, and some cheap ground beef, and my roommate tried it and said it tasted like tomato soup with meat floating in it. He said I needed to cook the spices in the oil for a bit before adding the liquid, so I tried it with just cumin and chili powder and the whole pot changed. Has anyone else had a cheap recipe saved by doing one small step at the start instead of dumping everything in at once?
