I thought dry beans were a waste of time, then a guy at the Save A Lot in Dayton proved me wrong
I always bought canned beans because I figured soaking them overnight was too much hassle for maybe 60 cents of savings. Then a guy named Ray at the Save A Lot on Salem Ave showed me his receipt one Tuesday: a 2 pound bag of pinto beans for $1.79 makes about 12 servings, while the same amount of cans runs close to $9. I tried it that weekend and honestly the beans tasted better, plus I got a big pot of broth out of it for soup. Now I'm wondering what else I've been overpaying for just because cans are easier, what's your go to dried bean recipe?
