Warning: Toll roads got me stuck on my cash-only drive

I remember when every toll booth had a person to take your money. Last year, I hit a stretch where they only took electronic payments. I figured out you can buy a prepaid pass with cash at some gas stations along the highway. Now I always look up toll payment methods before I leave home.

Ugh, that's the worst! I just call the toll authority the next day now (they can take payment over the phone if you explain you missed the signs).

That exact thing happened to me on the Ohio Turnpike last fall. Completely missed the signs saying it was all electronic now. Got a nasty fine in the mail two weeks later. Felt like such a scam. Now I have to check the stupid toll website every single trip.
