Tried to buy a plane ticket with cash last month and it was a nightmare
I needed to fly to Chicago for a family thing and went to the airport ticket counter with $400 in cash. They told me they could not sell me a ticket directly for cash anymore, only a prepaid card from a kiosk. I bought the card, but it had a $15 fee and took 30 minutes to activate. I almost missed the flight. Learned the hard way that some things are nearly impossible without a card now. How do you guys handle big purchases like travel?

Had the same problem trying to pay cash for a hotel room last year. I ended up getting a basic debit card from my local credit union with no monthly fees. I transfer just enough cash onto it for things like tickets or rental cars. It saves me the hassle of those prepaid card fees and activation waits. The card stays in my desk drawer unless I need it for a specific purchase. It’s not perfect, but it works around the cash problem.
