Three years of envelope budgeting, last week the bank teller laughed at me

So last week I went into my local PNC branch to get some quarters for laundry, and I pull out this beat up envelope with my cash allotment for the month. The teller, this younger gal, she actually giggled and asked if I was doing some kind of retro challenge. I tried to explain that it's been three years since I touched a debit card, that I split my paycheck into six envelopes for groceries, gas, fun money, and so on. She said she couldn't remember the last time she saw someone use a check register, let alone an envelope system. It got me thinking, I've saved about $1,200 this year just from not impulse swiping, but I do miss the convenience when I'm at a farmer's market that only takes cards. Has anyone else gotten weird looks from younger folks when you pull out cash, and do you ever doubt the system when a place gives you a hard time about paying with paper?
