Rant: People who say "cash is untraceable" have clearly never had a landlord ask for 6 months of rent receipts

Took me showing a skeptical friend the stack of signed receipts from my barber and bodega to convince him that going cash only actually creates a paper trail if you get the right receipts, so who else has gotten used to asking for handwritten proof on every single transaction?

Wait, is it really that deep though? Like unless you're running some massive under the table operation, the IRS probably isn't digging through your barber's shoebox.

Read somewhere that a bunch of street vendors in NYC got busted by the IRS because they were keeping physical receipts in shoeboxes. Paper trails go both ways, just depends who shows up asking for them.
