My wallet's thicker but my carbon footprint's thinner with cash...

Physical money forces mindful spending... which cuts down on pointless purchases.

Totally. I switched to a cash budget for groceries and fun money last year. Actually seeing the twenties disappear from my wallet makes me pause at the checkout line. I'll put back that overpriced coffee drink or extra snack without a second thought. It's harder to ignore a physical limit than a number on a screen.

But does it really change much? Putting back a six dollar coffee feels smart, but then you drop sixty on takeout without blinking. The big stuff like rent or car payments still drains the account, cash or not. It seems like moving money around more than fixing the real spending habits. Feels like a drop in the bucket next to the real budget busters.
