My wallet got stolen and it actually helped me track my spending better

So last Thursday I was at the laundromat on 12th Street and someone swiped my wallet from the basket. I only had like $60 cash in it plus my library card, but the crazy part is I had to go fully cash only for 3 days waiting for my new ID. And you know what I realized? When I only had physical money on me, I stopped buying random stuff like energy drinks and those overpriced sandwiches from the gas station. I actually kept a little notebook of every dollar I spent and by Sunday I had saved about $40 compared to my usual week. Has anyone else had a moment where losing cash forced you to notice how much you waste on junk? I'm thinking of sticking with a small envelope system now instead of going back to my old careless ways.

Losing stuff doesn't usually fix bad habits though.

Buddy of mine lost 50 pounds and still ate junk food every day.
