My emergency fund envelope got soaked in a coffee spill last Tuesday

I keep my cash in labeled envelopes in a kitchen drawer. I knocked over a full mug and it soaked the 'car repairs' envelope with about $350 inside. The bills were wet and stuck together. I mean, on one hand, it's a solid reason to keep cash at home for real emergencies. But it also shows how fragile physical money can be compared to a digital account. I had to lay everything out on a towel for a day to dry. Has anyone else had cash get damaged and how did you handle it?

Why not just keep your money in the bank?

Because my bank account is basically a museum for dust.

Exactly the same thing happened to me last month with my 'groceries' envelope, ended up with about $200 in wet twenties stuck to the kitchen counter. Took forever to peel them apart without ripping. @gibson.seth I get the bank thing but sometimes you just need cash fast without waiting for an ATM.
