My car insurance payment used to be a guessing game with my card
I used to pay my car insurance with a debit card, and the amount would change a little each month. I never really knew the exact total until it came out of my account. About four months ago, I switched to paying the six-month premium in cash at their local office. I walked in with $487, got a paper receipt, and now I know exactly what I've spent until November. Has anyone else found paying big bills in cash upfront helps you budget better?

Actually paying in cash at the office is pretty rare these days. Most companies just let you pay the full six-month premium online to lock in the rate.

Yeah locking in the rate online is smart. I used to just pay monthly but doing the full six months upfront actually saves some hassle.
