My $22 Craigslist toaster cost me $180 in waffles

Bought a barely used waffle iron off a guy in Reno for $22, cash, felt like a genius. Got home and realized it only took $1 bills, like some kind of vending machine, so I had to break a $20 every single weekend. Six months later I had spent $180 on waffle mix and syrup just to feed that stupid thing. My roommate asked why I do not just use a card for groceries, and honestly I did not have an answer. Anyone else own a gadget that only works if your wallet is fat with ones?
