I used to think cash was only for small stuff, but I paid my $1,200 car insurance bill with it last month.

Paying that with cash must have been a stack of bills thick enough to use as a doorstop... I tried paying my water bill in cash once and the lady at the counter looked at me like I'd just stepped out of a time machine.

My local grocery store got rid of their last cash-only lane last month. It feels like we're being quietly pushed into a digital-only world, whether we like it or not. That clerk's confused look is just the start.

So you're saying the clerk looked at you like you stepped out of a time machine..." That's exactly the problem though. People act like cash is some ancient relic, but it's still legal tender and nobody should be shamed for using it. The more we let businesses and banks push us toward digital payments, the more control they have over our money and our privacy.
