Hit $500 in my emergency cash jar and it felt weird

I've been putting any leftover singles and change in a coffee can for about 8 months, just to see what would happen. I dumped it out to count yesterday and it was over five hundred bucks, which is way more than I ever have in my checking account. How do you guys handle a bigger cash pile without feeling like you need to spend it?

My old tackle box was full of fives and ones like that, cleared out almost $400 last fall. I keep it in an envelope in my desk now so it's out of sight. What do you do with yours?

Oh man, that's a killer find! Honestly, I started using a big old coffee can in the garage for all my random cash. When it gets full, that's my fun money for a weekend trip or a nice dinner out. Tbh, keeping it somewhere you don't see every day is the real trick, stops you from dipping into it.

Out of sight" is right, I'd forget I even had money. Mine just ends up as gas station coffee and beef jerky funds by Tuesday.
