Forgot my cash stash at home during a farmer's market trip

I was at the big Saturday market in Austin last month and realized I left my envelope of cash on the kitchen counter. Had to walk 20 minutes back home because none of the vendors take cards, and I really wanted that honey from my favorite stand. Has anyone else had to abandon a shopping trip like that?

Are you kidding me? That sounds like a perfect excuse to skip the market and save some money. I mean, honey is good but is it worth a 40 minute round trip walk in Austin heat? Think of it this way. You dodged a bullet. You could have bought that honey, brought it home, and realized it wasn't as good as you remembered. Or worse, you could have spent cash on a bunch of other stuff you don't need. Sometimes forgetting your cash is a blessing in disguise. Your wallet and your kitchen counter were doing you a favor.

Read somewhere that Austin beekeepers are actually selling out of honey faster than ever this year, something about the drought making the wildflowers produce less nectar. So maybe walking 40 minutes in heat would've been worth it if they had any left by the time you got there. Could've been like that story I saw where a guy drove 30 miles for some famous BBQ only to find a 3 hour line and no brisket left. Your fridge definitely saved you from that kind of disappointment, plus you avoided the whole "I'll just grab one thing" trap that turns into spending $40 on pickles and fancy cheese you don't need.
