Finally gave the envelope system a real shot and it actually worked

I was super skeptical about the whole cash envelope thing. Thought it was just some old school budgeting fad. But after overspending by $200 on takeout last month I decided to try it. Put $300 in a "dining out" envelope on Nov 1st and I still have $40 left. Seeing the cash physically disappear really made me think twice before ordering. Has anyone else had that moment where a cash system surprised you?

lol yeah I feel this. I tried the envelope system once and lasted like two days before I got embarrassed pulling out cash at the drive thru so I just switched back to my card and immediately blew the budget. might have to give it another shot now though.

Yeah, the curb embarrassment is real, I tucked mine in my pocket like I was hiding drugs.
