Changed my view on carrying a big wad of cash

I kept seeing people at the bank pulling out huge rolls of bills, but after my wallet got stolen at a gas station in Toledo, I realized that's just asking for trouble. Anyone have a good system for splitting up cash for the week without it being obvious?

Carry a dummy wallet with a few bucks and expired cards to hand over if you get mugged. Keep your real cash somewhere else, like a money clip or hidden pocket. It's a cheap trick that actually works.

Sounds smart until the mugger gets mad about the fake wallet and things get worse. Seen it happen to a friend in Chicago, he got roughed up bad. Better to just hand over the real thing and stay safe. Your phone and wallet aren't worth getting hurt over.

Yeah but honestly that dummy wallet trick works way better if you keep it thin with just a couple bucks and an old gift card. Throwing in a thick wad of fake cash or a fake ID is just asking for the mugger to flip out when they realize its fake. Keep it simple and minimalist so they grab it, take a quick peek, and bounce without getting suspicious.
