Appreciation post: the envelope system after my sister called me out
My sister watched me fumble with a pile of crumpled twenties at a diner in Tulsa and said, "You look like you're hiding a gambling habit." She suggested I try setting up separate envelopes for groceries, gas, and fun money. Now I sort my cash into three labeled envelopes every payday and it kills the anxiety of wondering where my money went. Sticking to cash only works way better when you actually keep it organized, who else here uses a specific system?

Started doing this a few months back and it flipped a switch in my brain. The physical act of handing over cash from a specific envelope makes me actually think about each purchase, unlike swiping a card. I even added a fourth envelope for eating out since that was my biggest leak. Have you tried setting aside a small envelope just for fun money you don't have to track?
