A $400 cash payment got me a better deal on a used truck part

I needed a new transmission for my work truck and found one at a salvage yard. The guy wanted $450, but I only had four hundred-dollar bills on me. I showed him the cash and he took it right there, no questions. That extra fifty I saved covered my gas for the week. It felt good to make a deal on the spot without any card fees or waiting. Has anyone else found that having the exact cash in hand helps you negotiate better?

Friend of mine was selling a dirt bike and had it listed for $1200. A guy showed up the next morning, counted out ten one hundred dollar bills right there, and said "this is all I've got on me." He took the deal and rode away on that bike before lunchtime. Cash in hand just changes the whole conversation.

Oh man, cash is king for that exact reason. I always pull out the exact bills I'm willing to pay and say that's my final offer. Works way more often than you'd think.

Feels too pushy for my taste.
